okay friends, it is that time again. Another contest from Northeast Numismatics. This time, however, it's not going to be so easy. This one (at least to me) is a doozy.

Using only the reverse image shown, be the first person to name what coin this is and I will send it to you.

    Good luck, y'all!

I believe it is an extremely worn Columbian Exposition Half Dollar.

I guess I'm going to need to make my contests more difficult. Bradley is the winner and in record time, no less. Inbox me your shipping info, Bradley, and I'll send your coin off this week.

Interesting I've never seen a lowball Columbian half must've been a pocket piece for quite a long time.

By any chance, do you post these oddball coins on another forum? I think someone has been following you around.

    Hi Chris,
No, just this one. I'm being followed? Usually that's a good thing!

Yes, it is in terms of drumming up business, but I find it more than just coincidence that the winner could give the correct answer just two minutes after you posted the contest with that sort of clue. I guess it is just the skeptic in me, but that's the way it is.

Wow, that is super worn. Kind of a cool piece.

First of all, I do happen to follow @nencoin and any other contests that may be posted. Second, this is the only numismatic forum I have an account on. Overall, the remaining diagnostics on the reverse of this allowed me to identify it so quickly. The reason why it stood out to me as a Columbian Expo half dollar is what remained of the midships portion of the Santa Maria and what remained of the globes depicting the hemispheres.

Maybe NASA should recall the Hubble and put you up there.

Ok, given the answer, I can see the cleavage between the two globes and the area under the sails but I don't know how long it would have taken me to figure it out by myself.

    Impressive detective work.

I just received the prize in the mail a few minutes ago; I'd like to thank @nencoin for organizing these contests for all the members of cointalk. Furthermore, winning this contest has inspired me to build a lowball Dansco 7070 type set which should prove to be an exciting challenge in its own right.

Wow, I'm impressed. That was a toughie. Congrats to @Bradley Trotter.

@nencoin- I'm just doing my periodic housekeeping and locking up all the expired contests so they don't continue to get entries. If you ever need me to reopen one, just send me a PM.
