So far, no, though Potty’s last guess is closer chronologically than Mr. N’s.

Hmmm. I'm divided between Cuba and the Republic of Ireland.

That said, my guess is the following:

    1928 - Ireland, Halfcrown.

You’re very good at this! Like the other thread, you’re SO close!

    But not quite there.

It is an Irish coin from 1928. So you have the right country and date- just not the denomination.

Two other folks get a guess before you can guess again. Will they get it? Or will you get another chance?

    Won’t be long, now…

Should be ripe for the taking at this point. On paper, the next person to guess should have a 14.28% chance of guessing the correct answer.

Ehh whatever. I was just trying to win something for a friend of mine. I would've likely gone with 1898 had I been born in 1998. 1899 is somewhat of a sentimental year for me being that it's a century before I was born.

To be fair, I'm stuck trying to sell a 1908 Newfoundland 50 Cent piece. That combined with the relative abundance of the denomination made it the logical answer.

I went with 1894 since my B-Year is 2004 the (4) on the other one.

The odds of choosing the correct answer are now 16.6%. Assuming you make a random guess.

A logical choice. For one, I doubted that you would offer up a piece of base-metal coinage in your contest. Lastly, Irish florins are seldom encountered compared to shillings, at least in my experience.

There will likely be some base-metal coins in future editions of these “Mystery Box Pick” contests, but only fun ones. :)
