Thank you for refreshing my spotty memory!

You see, I used to have my own wooden nickels- and later, wooden dollars (same diameter) - back years ago, before I started doing the elongated coins. So I couldn’t remember offhand which denomination his were.

(LordM woodies are kinda scarce nowadays, having been discontinued perhaps 16 years ago.)

And Post #59 was by... me!

    On behalf of @masterswimmer.

    Congratulations, @masterswimmer!

I have your address, but need to be sure I'm up to date on that, so I'll (text) message you shortly.

Since you have now won a coin in this contest, you may only enter future rounds if you're nominating someone else to win.

Please be sure to post here in the contest thread when you receive your prize, so that I can update the...

    Now we come to...

    ROUND 3.

The prize is a Roman antoninianus of the emperor Carinus, struck in billon. It was minted in Antioch circa 283-284 AD. You can see traces of the original silvering on the coin.

(Again it seems I forgot to flip over the paper insert to show the other side of that, or perhaps the other side was blank- I forget.)

Perhaps our ancient coin experts can chime in with further information about this coin.

To enter this round, all you need to do is:

    1. Say that you want it, and
    2. A word or two about why you want it or what you like about it.

If you do not want the coin for yourself, you may enter on someone else's behalf. Simply name the person you would like to have it if your entry wins the drawing.

Then, sometime in the next 1-3 days, we'll do the drawing and move on to the next round. This round is open for entries until such time as I announce the drawing.

You may follow the progress of the contest in the...

Like our Round 3 prize coin, that was also struck in billon, as I just learned from the Wikipedia article. I never thought of the US wartime nickels as being billon coinage, but of course they are. I suppose any silver coin that's less than .500 fine could be considered billon.

@lordmarcovan thank you twice my friend. Once for offering up your goodies, time and relentless efforts conducting these generous sweepstakes. And second for your additional entry in my name.....that proved to be the winner through the Nostradamus Effect.

And thank you to everyone else for your good wishes.
