Put me down for the Antoninus Pius denarius. I have several Roman Republic Denarii but nothing from the Imperial period and I would like to rectify that at some point, if I ever finish my 7070.

    Entry post!
I’d choose the 1873 seated quarter. I only have 1 example in my collection and it looks like it lost a fight with a wood chipper!!!

Let’s give @Abramthegreat another chance with this post!

If I were to enter this one, I think I’d choose the same coin though I’d rather have a shipwrecked piece if I was going to get old Spanish silver.

Added a slabbed Morgan dollar and some other new stuff to the prize selections. And I’m not done yet.

I’ve had fun with these giveaways, so I intend to expand the little “free store” in the upcoming months. Will probably find some more goodies at the 2025 FUN show in January, strictly for the sake of eventually giving them away.

I do question my own sanity on this sometimes, but I guess it’s OK as long as I’m having fun with everyone else. These days, I get as much fun out of adding a $25-50+ coin to someone else’s collection- as much as I would in adding a $250-500+ coin to my own collection .

Entry post #47 was my original post, but I didn't say why I wanted the morgan. I like it because I want to give a morgan to my grandchild. Regards.

@lordmarcovan I am just letting you know that the Septimius Severus and an unexpected elongated rolled over a buffalo nickel host coin, safely arrived this morning. almost an additional Saturnalia gift. Many thanks.
PS, the mailing envelope, just completely covered in postage stamps is brilliant.
As the thread for giveaway #118 is closed for replies, this is the most apt place to acknowledge the arrival.

Thanks, @lordmarcovan, for yet another wonderful giveaway!

I choose this one: Roman Empire: ca. 318-320 AD bronze Æ17 of Licinius II, camp gate, Heraclea mint

Why? Because it would commemorate a great spring event that I took part in. This April, my wife and I volunteered to help excavate at the Roman Vindolanda Fort, near Hadrian's wall in northern England. It was a great two weeks of work, digging up a 3rd/4th Century Roman Fort, finding walls, roads, pottery, jewelry, and yes, even Roman Coins!!! Unfortunately, they wouldn't let us keep any of the coins we found, so this would be a nice commemorative of the time I spent there. And, this actually looks like one of the coins that were found while we were there (the one I found was too mucked up with mud to identify, and they didn't want us to clean them)!

    Thanks again!

Wow. I would have loved to be there, and witnessed Roman coins coming out of the ground at Vindolanda, about which I have read.

Happily, I did finally achieve my lifelong dream of detecting in England in 2013. I did not find any Roman coins on the trip (the oldest I dug was circa 1300 AD), but in my very first hour in the field, I witnessed a fellow detectorist finding a big 2nd century Roman sestertius of Marcus Aurelius. Rough though the coin was, that was a thrill to see.

PS- I enjoyed your post, so here’s an extra entry in the contest, to increase your odds in the drawing somewhat.

Entry post for the Antoninus Pius silver denarius. The five good emperors have always been a favorite of mine to collect, and the one up for givy is in much better condition than the one I currently have.

I collect Campgate coins from Licinius II. This coin from the Giveway would enhance my collection of campgate Follis. I like it for being from Heraclia and getting a twin to mine.

Very interesting writeup on metal detecting in England. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

I'd like to try for the Venezuela 5 Bolivares (although the Antoninus Pius Denarius and Japanese 100 Mon were tempting).

I've been wanting one for awhile now. I really like the design on both the obverse and the reverse. The example you picked is a very nice example. Thanks for the opportunity to own one!

Were you the one who suggested the 5-bolivares in @expat 's contest? I forget now.

Edit: aha. Yes. Of course you were. Well, now you've got one to play for in this (or maybe future) LordM contests. I had fun shopping for those.

Japan (Edo Period): ca. 1835-1870 cast bronze 100-mon, Tenpō Tsūhō. I collect a lot of strange and curious currency. A lot of it from South East Asia. This would be welcomed in my collection. I believe it would fit the theme quite well. When Charles Opitz's collection was sold on HA, I acquired some pieces from his collection which were featured in his book. Looking his book over he also collected many of these elongated coins.

Good luck to everyone , thank you very much for the opportunity. And a wonderful New-Year.
