LordM Giveaway #120 (pick your prize)

    Contest status: CLOSED
    Drawing: 01 January 2025
    Winner: @Jersey magic man
    Shipped: 02 January 2025
    Winner's receipt

    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the latest giveaway. This will be another one of my "pick your prize" contests, so you can hopefully win something you'll like.

    To enter:

    1. Go view my Giveaway Gallery.

    2. Post an entry here, stating which prize you would prefer.

    3. State why you chose what you did.

NOTE: That last bit is important. To qualify, you have to not only pick a prize, but also say WHY you picked it. I do not require an essay. A few words will do. If you do not include that, your entry will be disqualified.

However, if you are entering on someone else's behalf, you are not required to pick a prize or say why. Your designated proxy will get to pick their choice later, if your entry wins for them.

Your prize choice need not be final. Since I do periodically add new prizes to the Giveaway Gallery, you'll be given a chance to change your mind at the end, if you win the drawing. I just like to hear the initial selections up front, since it gives me an idea of what folks like.

Click the pic to go to the prize gallery.

The drawing will be done via random number generator sometime on or after the date mentioned at the top of this post. The timing will depend on my schedule. You may consider the contest open for entries until such time as I have posted the final result of the drawing.

Totally free: the contest is free of charge, open to everyone, with free worldwide shipping. The only further requirement is that if you win...

Please post a receipt in this thread after you get the prize, so we'll know you got it (that helps me keep track).

    Good luck!

    Numismatic regards,

    ~Robertson ("Rob") Shinnick ("LordM")

You will find the selection in the free store (Giveaway Gallery) a little bit smaller as of the start of this contest, but that's just because I'm in the process of removing some items and hopefully adding some new goodies soon.

Probably by the time of the drawing, there will be at least a few new prizes to pick from, so the winner will have the opportunity to change his or her prize selection later, if they want one of the newly-added prizes.

This Franklin half dollar will be one of the new additions to be added to the Giveaway Gallery later. (Edit- it's there now.)

1856 copper Braided Hair large cent, slanted 5 variety would be great to have. Because I don't have one. I think I gave this same answer somewhere else in a contest. I hope I did not enter this twice.

You're the first to enter this contest (#120), so you did not enter twice!

I'd like to win the 1945-S War nickel in the PCGS slab. I've been meaning to put together a high-grade set of war nickels for some time and this would jump-start the process.

    Thank you, Lucy

I will enter this and I think I still do like the pair of silver dollars because they are such classic coins.

I'm in, but I think that I'd already entered. I'd like the 1919 Canada cents.

No, you entered in the last contest, I believe. One of the others, at any rate. This one was just posted. Your entry is only Post #7, and is totally valid for the new contest.

This is an entry post for Dongdong2 on CollecOnline, who is a Korean high school student who messaged me directly on that site (due to difficulty registering here), and who is interested in the Spanish cob 1-real piece, for reasons mentioned in the message below.

I am interested in the Jersey Cent. British money from all their different colonies and whatnot fascinate me

One-twelfth of a shilling, actually. A strange predecimal denomination.

My apologies. I’m gonna have to do some research I’ve never heard of that

A "cent" is a decimal denomination. One one-hundredth of a monetary unit. That Jersey coin was struck under the old pounds-shillings-pence pre-decimal system. And to make it even stranger, it's one-twelfth of a shilling, which is just kind of an oddball-sounding denomination. To me, anyway.

I was thinking about getting my grandson started on the Franklin Half collection. Even in MS condition it can be obtained relatively inexpensive.

That said, I'd like to enter for the 1958-D Franklin. That would be a sweet start for the little guy.

Thank you for the opportunity, Rob.

Entry post here for that 1896 Morgan, please. I've got a special spot for that coin in my Whitman album that seems to be destined to remain empty, but I'll keep on trying for it! Thanks again, and best of luck to everyone!

Read the instructions in Post #1 and repost, Dennis. You’re missing a component of your entry. ;)
