I’ve heard of treacle (in the James Herriott books), but still don’t really have a handle on what it is (aside from sweet).

It is a by product of refining sugar. It is an uncrystalised syrup.

I want in for @TheNickelGuy (well, his handle sort of says it all).

Congratulations to @SensibleSal66 for win #3 and thanks to LordM for this fine contest.

I going to go search the house now. I hope our new mini-weiner dog (Zia) hasn't eaten the elf on the shelf. Hope he is just hiding from her.

It's a black syrup made from refined sugar. Strangely, the tart does not contain treacle as I know it, but golden syrup instead. It's about as sweet as it gets. :)

    (5) Assorted nickels.

An 1899 Liberty in Littleton plastic (G), a 1909 Liberty in Littleton envelope (VG), a 1912 Liberty in a flip (G+), a 1947-D Jefferson in Littleton plastic (nice Brilliant UNC), and a 1962 Jefferson in Littleton plastic (lightly toned Proof).

To enter this round, all you need to do is:

    1. Say that you want this lot, and
    2. post something else coin-related or cheerful.

Then, sometime in the next 2-4 days (depending on my schedule), we'll do the drawing and move on to the next round.

You may of course say you want it for someone else, if you name that person.

    Round summary in Post #1.

    Entry post for Lot 5.

I know we're supposed to post something cheerful. Not so cheerful for me but I suppose it is cheerful for all of the football fanatics out there who've been waiting 20+ years for the Patriots comeuppance..

I want in for round 5 please!

What's kinda cool about this lot for me (aside from some great nickels) is alot of them are in Littleton packages where my grandmother worked for over 50 years and I worked there for a year out of high school.

that 47 D looks to be a well struck nickel. Nice lot!
