To give back to the forum I love from a rather lucky numismatic aquisition, I've decided to hold a contest featuring silver elongated/pressed coins. The coins feature impressions from the gatherings of the NECA Error-A-Rama (late 60's +). The organization eventually merged with others forming CONECA. There will be 3 prize drawings.
    1st Prize: 2 elongated quarters
    2nd Prize: 2 elongated dimes
    3rd Prize: 1 elongated quarter
Please type entry post in only your first post. Multiple entry posts will result in disqualification. Then share with us either an error, variety or elongated/pressed coin! As with other contests, your one and only entry post may have a YN as the beneficiary.
Contest will remain open until Sept. 30th at 11:59PM with the drawing taking place on the afternoon of Oct. 1st. I'll ship the coins personally! Let's go!

Dang, I'm away from my collection and cannot post a photo. Also, I'm returning home after the entry deadline. Some great examples are shown here.

2018 WANS 45th Anniversary Elongated Peso OBV

This is a "One of a kind" elongated coin. There was only one of the elongated coins rolled on a Mexico 1 Peso. I bought it during the coin club auction at the meeting one night.
Our Williamsport PA coin club had 500 uncirculated 1973 US cents elongated for complimentary handouts to all who enter the upcoming coin show on July 28 2018 along with the free door prize ticket that is drawn every hour during the show. ( Good prizes just for showing up )

The complete box of delivery was at the show, there were also 5 extra elongated cents that were auctioned off. There was also a special set containing a US cent, dime, nickel quarter and a SBA dollar. These were packaged like a mint set and 4 more sets remain in the treasury for future plans.

But I got the only "one of a kind" in the whole lot and there are no others.
This is also the only elongated coin of any kind that I own.

Thanks for the nice contest and cool prizes. As a kid the most I ever put on the train tracks was a nickel. Those pennies sometimes looked very much like elongated cents after the train went by. A quarter would be great.

I suppose it doesn't have to be an error you personally own and shipping can always wait until you are ready for it!

Thank you Joshua, but I prefer that we follow the rules as laid out. I'm sure that there will be opportunities in the future.

    Cheers,

    Paul

That's the first elongated bi-metallic coin I have ever seen. I'm guessing they don't do a lot of them due to the potential of the center being squeezed out?

I need to do more research on how bi-metallics are produced.
