    The way I look at it, the planchet is made first, with a piece missing. That missing piece is due to it being cut where another coin was already cut. Basically the curve in the blank planchet would be filled in with another coin of the same type. The catch is the Planchet is minted into a coin and the pressure of doing so may change the shape so another coin won’t fit. Mine and yours both fit.
