Ptolemaic Kingdom, Cleopatra VII. AE RRRR

    Condition: Very Fine

    Weight: 2.20 gr
    Diameter: 14 mm
Just wanted to check with someone who will be more knowledgeable than me, I picked up this coin of Cleopatra, however, I'm just trying to ascertain for certain that is her portrait coin, understandably the coin is pretty far gone. I've also never heard of an AE RRRR, is this a code for something? I hope someone can help! Thanks everyone, all the best

I don't think that's Cleopatra VII; it looks like a bearded male figure to me. Cleopatra wore her hair in a bun in the back, which is apparent even on this very worn example from my collection.

Yes, a male head, not Cleopatra.
I would guess that the RRRR is intended for further deception, indicating great rarity.

This is along my thoughts also, I won it relatively cheap but I had my suspicions

    Hi

Probably an underweight CPE-208 (= Svoronos 418). Ptolemy II.

Thanks for the replies everyone, if you're curious I won it at Zeus Auctions on bidder, usually pretty good at descriptions, I've emailed hoping I can retract my bid

You might want to do a search for a thread from a while back with some complaints about Zeus.

Apart from everything else mentioned above, the nose is too small to be Cleopatra's!

Any dealer attributing this to Cleo VII simply does not know ancient coins. Her Ptolemaic types are extremely well documented, as are most of hers.
