CLEANED? POLISHED? OR SOMETHING ELSE?

    You want parts of the other posts to be between the bracketed QUOTE and the bracketed /QUOTE which then put whatever is between them different from your response.

    Your post above has your typing and mine all in the yellow block. You want to separate them.

    Worn through circulation but not altered. Unfortunately the major grading services do not understand the uniquof early strike Franklin half dollars and

    Yeah, I am with you… kind of. I mean, it definitely appears TO ME to have been tampered with. But then again — why would someone take the time to make one (poor) attempt at doing so and then give up and call it good? That doesn’t make any sense to me.

    The later Franklins can be found in high grades. I think these early ones circulated more. Back in the day the 50 cent piece was used a lot. By the time the 60's rolled around it wasn't. Since this one looks cleaned, it most likely was. And not to fool someone into paying more for it. Coins were routinely cleaned until they realized too late (70's-80's?) that it was damaging them.
