Clean coins with steam?

    yes...actually AFAIK arcs occur if there are pointy things on the object being nuked. However, microwave ovens are weird things.

    Can't say but a friend of mine burned down his kitchen simply by leaving a spoon in his coffee cup.

    I'm willing to bet the back end of the spoon was out of the liquid...

    A dealer I know uses the pressurized steam system used by jewellers. He swears by it - takes off pvc and any other gunk. He only uses it on uncirculated coins or else the circulated coins look cleaned.
