Ummm ... well, here is my gorgeous "counterfeit" addition to this great thread (*sigh*)

=> on the bright-side, when David Sear spotted this fake, the seller gave me cash back, no questions asked!!

For the record, I'm pretty sure that this coin placed highly in a couple of the earlier "SMACKDOWN" competitions (it sure is a purdy fake, eh!!?)

I take it you're back from your vacation Jerry. Hope all went well, and you had a great time.

BTW, what was it that David Sear spotted about your coin?

Hey Eng ... 90 year ol' Dad was doin' well, so it seems like steady as she goes!! (he)

Hi Bing ... yes, the vacation was a total success (good weather and good times!!)

I have attached photos of the certification ... hopefully you'll be able to read the blurb ...

Good to have you back. I didn't miss you, but others did :)cool:).

I can read DS's certification, but not certain I understand.

=> yah, I know that you missed me, ya big knucklehead ... how was your trip?

=> when David Sear spots one fake outta the 65 coins that I've sent his way, I listen .... plus, the seller also agreed and apologized after reading Sear's findings, so again, I listened (bottom-line => it's a 19-20th century cast fake)

Don't flatter yourself. However, on the other hand, I know my lil buddy missed me. My trip was pretty good. It was hot, but I expected that. Great sights, even greater food, and beautiful women (ahh, to be 21 again). The wife did well too. I think the last procedure helped a lot.

I'm not questioning DS's findings. I'm just trying to understand. The coin itself looks convincing to me, so I would have been fooled into buying just like you.

    welcome back stevex!
i was curius about what one of those reports would look like, thanks for posting. there's no way in (you now where) i'd guess that was fake...what tipped you off to suspect it?

Ummm, I knew right away .... Dave and I figured it out almost immediately!!

    "not"

    ;)

Actually Chris, I send most of my more precious coins to David Sear for authentication ... when I pass-away (say it ain't so, stevex6!!), I want my wife to have the luxury of either passing=down my coins to a younger relative, or selling the coins as an asset ... I am hoping that having David Sear authentications will ease "her mind" and will also give her some ammo when she's trying to sell my collection to one of you sly-foxes!!

    ;)

SUMMARY => my favourite seller and I both agreed that David Sear was onto somethin', so the ol' refund-clause was activated and my cash was refunded ... ummm, but we still retain a great buyer-seller relationship (the dude is Golden)
