This is an interesting coin, of a type that was invented at Cyzicus after the mint was moved there from Smyrna in early 269AD. All coins of this issue are at least scarce. EXE: - REF: Mairat 2007, 35, RIC V-1 243 RIC Online #887 8 specs recorded, rare 2nd issue at Cyzicus mint, mid 269AD. Very interesting bust type, obverse die-match with: Ph. Gysen collection (Inv.30) = Gysen 1999, 2 = CNG, 45, 21/IX/1986, 2296 = Mairat 2007, 35/4. Another specimen sold on VAuctions Sale Number: 273 Lot Number: 449. M | C in fields l. and r. stands for Moneta Cyzicus.
My two best examples are not from the Cyzicus mint and have been among the first coins I obtained decades ago---modest examples, but easily identifiable.. Currently, I'm negotiating with a dealer for a "GOTHICO' legend type from Mediolanum (Milan)...
