Hi North49guy. Did you ever get your set of Mexico bank notes? They are quite difficult to find nowadays in mint condition, though we spend the used ones several times a week here in Guadalajara. When they first came out, I went to the bank and picked up ten of each, because I figured they would become popular. I wish I had known just how popular they would become.
Hi Canerrcoins. Your 1910 Mexico Un Peso weighs 27.073 grams and is 0.903 silver, but its value is considerably higher than that. There were 3,814,000 of that year minted. You can find this coin in the 2011 edition of the North American Coins & Prices on page 565. We can buy most Mexico coins for their silver content, no matter how old they are. This one coin, however, is one of the few exceptions. We still don't own one of these, because the dealers always want so much money for them. Congratulations on yours.
Hi Canerroins. Your 1742 is a Mexico 8 reales coin. It is highly uncommon. I don't have a price for your particular coin, but those from 1732 and 1733 sell here in Mexico for between $20,000 and $60,000 pesos (between $1666 and $5000 US). Very nice.
Wow, Canerrcoins, you sure do have a lot of nice Mexico coins. This Ferrocarril (railroad) commemorative weighs 27.777 grams and is 72% silver, but of course you know that since it is stamped right on the coin itself. I've seen them on eBay for around $22 US, but that was several months ago when silver spot price was around $20. This is another coin that we cannot buy here in Guadalajara for silver spot price, though we can buy coins more than a hundred years older than this one for spot price.
No, I never ended up getting them sadly enough. Should've jumped on the opportunity when I first had the chance. Oh well, eventually
