By coincidence, this little item arrived just before the Mexican holiday "Cinco de Mayo", which celebrates the Mexican Army victory over the invading French Army at Puebla on May 5, 1862.

The French were trying to install an Austrian duke as Maximilian I, Emperor of Mexico.

Spanish Eight Escudo coins were called "Doubloons", would this be a
    "Mexican Doubloon"?

The coin has circulated quite a bit from it's wear and scratches.

It is interesting to speculate where it has been since 1862.

That's the way I feel about my coins....I wish they could, for a minute, tell their tales on what they have seen or heard since they were minited. Nice pic btw. Thanks and enjoy what remains of your day. :joyful:
