He was the first person to lead me on to coins, and over the years we learned about the hobby together; he had an affinity for Morgans while I was much more content with Franklins and Wheaties. He passed away two months ago after a long battle with cystic fibrosis; I remember visiting him in the hospital every year for his checkups and it was always in the pediatric ward, because the mortality rate of that disease is so high for children that most specialists in it deal with children. And yet he lived past 40. He was a truly great person, and a well-exposed numismatist. I see this example years after it was given to me, and I can't help but appreciate its true value now more than I probably ever have.
