Double Die I know just enough to be dangerous

Another register till find. This 2017 P dime has got chips and possible cracks galore. The obverse has only a few chips on the eyebrow, nose, & cheek. The reverse however is another story with both branches, the torch, and into the fields covered like barnacles. Is this what a die looks like right before it explodes or can it get even worse? 2018-08-16 14.21.15.jpg 2018-08-16 14.21.28.jpg 2018-08-16 14.21.01.jpg 2018-08-16 14.22.07.jpg 2018-08-16 14.21.45.jpg 2018-08-16 14.22.36.jpg 2018-08-16 14.22.19.jpg 2018-08-16 14.22.49.jpg ?

Oh yes, they can get worse. Sometimes these problems are temporarily removed by polishing the die and returning it to service. But then you would likely see the polishing marks, which I do not see on your coin. And sometimes the edge of the die may break away and cause a cud. Philly is well known for using it's dies to the bitter end.
