Chinese Emperor Coin

    Can anyone identify this coin? It is slightly larger than US half dollar.

    Your "coin" is one in a series of modern Chinese coins honoring legendary Chinese rulers.

    I discussed a different coin from this set in this thread.

    The inscription next to the portrait on your coin reads di ku which translates as Emperor Ku.

    Emperor Ku ruled from about 2436 BC - 2366 BC. He was the great-grandson of the Yellow Emperor and is credited with establishing schools and being the first emperor to practice polygamy.
