So, long story short(ish), my wife and I are in the process of adopting a couple of children from the foster care system (4 and 6 years old). The 6 year old was watching some cartoons before bed last night and I was sitting with him on the couch, looking through Cointalk as I do. Before I knew it he was sitting beside me, looking at my phone and asked, "What is that?" Then came, "Can I look at some coins too?" So, we looked through the Newest Acquisition thread, thinking it would give him a variety. Eventually he came across one and excitement broke, "Whoa! Who is the guy with the mohawk?!" I explained it was a Kennedy half and then he wanted to know if I had any. I showed him some circulated ones, the uncirculated ones from my mint sets, proofs from the proof sets, and he was all aglow. But alas, bedtime! So, we put things away for another day.

I came home from work tonight and while making dinner he asked, "Can I do a set of half dollar coins like your pennies?" My heart lept! So, now I am tempted to go back to my intro to coins...roll hunting. Get him an album, roll hunt with him. I just want to give him the satisfaction of placing coins in holes and not having to dive all too deeply into varieties, grades, etc. Just fun time with him.

So question is: how to roll hunt? Should I return the searched coins to the same bank? Different branch to change them up? Any advice on doing an elementary Kennedy Half set? Too ambitious? Thanks for any advice. Honestly, I am just thrilled he thought about it enough throughout the day to ask me to do a set with him!
