Here is what is visible of the counterstamp:</p><p><br /></p><p>Obverse: “McFIE” and the “G” in Greenock</p><p>Reverse: “McFIE” and “LIN” of Lindsay, “GRE” of Greenock</p><p><br /></p><p>Host coin is a Mexico 1797 FM 8 reales. </p><p><br /></p><p>This countermark is well-documented. According to a Stack’s auction listing, this is “Manville 57…described at length on page 112 of H.E.
