Here is something to get you ready for my next cherrypick. It is a cherrypick of a cherrypick. I love these the best. These are coins that I cherrypicked for a certain variety only to find out that it is actually another variety that I was not aware about. Not going to tell you the coin just yet, but how many Repunched mint marks do you see? I see six. Do you agree or not?
What???? I see at least 3 without trying real hard - look south and north. The one inside the D and the west(or left side) I am not sure of.
Thanks Frank.....not quite....but that one is coming. It was sent off to NGC at the ANA show. Here are the pics that I have of that one before it was sent off.
Yep, I agree Frank...not your best...why don't you just send it to me. I will gladly take it off your hands.
Well, I guessed I promised to show everyone what my Cherrypick of a Cherrypick was. Years ago, I purchased a 1936D California Pacific Expo commemorative aka the San Diego Commemorative. I knew it was a RPM which is the pics that you saw previously. This was noted as FS501 in CPG. By while researching my 1934D Oregon Trail Commemorative, I noticed another 1936D San Diego variety. It was the FS101. So I check mine to see if it was......and what do you know...it was!!! The added difference between the 101 and 105 is the Quadrupling on the obverse. Enjoy!
OK Ladies and Gents....Sorry I have been away for awhile. Been hard at the picken'! I have some fantastic finds that I just can't wait to share. I will start with one of my favorites. Apparently not a hard to find variety, but I do love her color! This is the 17 Berry VAM 1 variety. I was not aware of this variety until I did the research on this coin. On the 1921P Morgans, there are two reverses. Each reverse type has there own set of VAMs. There is the 16 or 17 berries reverse types. I now have both types. Enjoy.
Great find, Joe. I'd love to see what it's worth. I'll talk about my 1857 FE Snow-22 find soon. It's my avatar coin and there are other posts about it, here.
Bruce, I want to hear about your 1857. I don't collect these and know nothing about them so any news would be interesting. Thanks.
Remember my post of a about how I cherrypicked myself....well here is another one. Ive had this coin for a while, but just recently re-looked at it and saw that it was the FS801. Enjoy.
