Of the two curl base, knobbed 2 varieties for the 1828 cbh, the O-107 is by far the easier coin to find as an R-2, and the O-106 is very difficult at an R-4+. Compounding that is the fact that they share the same reverse along with the O-105 (curl base, no knob), so the obverse is the only way to tell them apart, and there are only minor differences. Basically a piece of hair breaking the band of Liberty and the positioning of star 13 relative to the bust and dentils. In the second of the band photos you can see the piece of hair just under the I for the 107, and in the star photos the inner point of the star on the 106 is slightly tilted away from the bust and the outer point is in between two dentils. On the 107, the inner point almost touches the bust, and the outer point is at the upper half of two dentils. This cherrypick now brings me to 89 die pairs for my collection!
