I would imagine these were done by machine and it was the luck of the draw as to which side showed. There were a lot more cents issued than Sacs.

Doesn't really matter, there is nothing special about the Cheerios cents. To the best of my knowledge there has never been a WAM found in a Cheerios package. So in order to be something special it would have to be some other kind of error, double struck off-center, clipped planchet, missed plating etc.

Only other picture I know of...I haven't seen anything on this reverse side showing in the original packaging. Just this one. Wonder how many are like this out of 10,000,000? What if it is the only 1? Yikes

Sorry paddy, the Cheerios were duds, not WAM's. Just got my report card back from ANAC's.

How to respond to this person's opinion? Just saying, if this is the only 1 found, to be inserted with reverse side showing, with both word of mouth & time...Maybe your opinion might change. If anything, something to talk about maybe down the road...

I do wonder, will You look for it in the years to come...Tell me No with a smile!

Well considering I collect mainly 18th century material sure I can say No with a smile. :) There is pretty much zero modern material that I look for.

As to your comment finding a WAM, and a Cheerios cent packaged reverse side out are two different things. As said no WAM's have been found. As far as being packaged reverse out it is unusual, and if yours is the only one it is a curiosity, but there is still nothing special about the coin. Would it have value over that of a normal Cheerios coin? Maybe, to the right person, but I would suspect the pool of interested buyers would be very shallow.

Or, possibly if it was an extremely high grade coin worth submitting. As my two only came back as an MS65 and a 66, I would guess not. Of course then it would have to be removed from the package, correctly graded, etc., thus invalidating it as a Cheerios cent.

I believe you to be mistaken, I never said anything of the Wide AM, that was a couple feller's talking about one of Their cheerio cent They had sent in for grading. I wanted to know if there were any other reverse side showing inserted Lincoln Cent's. That is All I wanted to know, like you are into old material, I am interested in what makes something...Unique or Rare!

Good day to ya, and speaking of WAM...I found a 1998 one I'm sure, just about a week ago.

Please post me a picture of your reverse inserted Cheerio coin in original packaging.

Have you looked at the listings on ebay to see if there are any others packaged the same way. Also check the prices in general for those still in the package and those that have been offered in slabs. I see one going for $2,500.00 in MS67+. Weather or not this price will ever be achieved is another matter. The others are asking a nice premium for graded coins also. As it stands yours will only be worth what someone is willing to pay provided you could find a buyer. On the other hand if yours were to get an outstanding grade, you might have some real dollar value in hand. It's always on option.

If the coin were to be inserted reverse side showing when encapsulated, I would then then send it in for grading. This is something that should warrant attention, imagine NGC grading it and granting the reverse side showing because it as inserted that way...Yes, I would send it in for grading only if I were absolutely positive in knowing they would in fact encapsulate the coin with reverse side showing. Even if there were 10,000 inserted reverse side showing, that is only .01 of the population minted, now imagine if there are only...100 or just a few...Or just the 1...
I am trying to obtain any and all information pertaining to the reverse side showing Cheerio Cent is all.
Also, this can only add to the hobby or Numismatic world or just people who happen to be Collector's of odd/unique/rare items.
    What a neat idea.
    Opinions on this thought, anyone?

    Anyone? Well that's me.

No, this does not add to the hobby or numismatics.

Sorry. At the end of the day it's just another cent that was minted...in what...the millions or billions (I don't have a Red Book handy to check the mintages)?

Why would anyone care that this was packaged with the reverse showing? Would you pay more than one cent for this? If not why would anyone else?

Why do you feel it's necessary to comment on someone's opinion when a response wasn't asked for? Everyone is entitled to an opinion whether you agree with it or not.

Those will be mine as well.
I guess those 11 attached straight from the spool aren't worth anything either?

Yes it does add, your opinion does not matter to me as You don't speak for All the coin community!!!
I don't care if you owned NGC or Great Collections.
You Do Not Speak For All!! Do Not Presume Otherwise.
I know what rare is, whether it's a Cheerio Cent or not, it is, in fact, a Rare item and there are and will be someone who will in the end, find it a charm as I do!!!
Now, show me your Reverse Side Showing Lincoln Cheerio Cent...

    You can retort away now...
