^This. Let them know you're not insane to do something like pay for a cheerios designation without sending the coin in the cheerios package. My guess would be that they'll refund you the $18 you paid for the designation, and possibly the entire grading fee. I wouldn't hold out much hope for getting the cheerios label though.
mine actually came from Cheerio boxes. I know, because I bought them for the kids. I'm not saying they are the highly detailed tail feathers though. I also have a few Cheerios Pennies still in the packaging, somewhere ... but I'm in no hurry to look for them.
The Cheerios package says that the enclosed cent is one of the first 10,000,000 minted for 2000. Does anyone know how many of those 10,000,000 got placed in Cheerios packaging? Or was it all 10 million? EDIT: Found my answer. General Mills received all 10,000,000.
Here's my Cheerios Cent, I just keep it for fun, I don't think it's worth much or even worth certifying. Sort of like a GSA Coin, best if in its original packaging.
