What you have is a Fourth Issue 0.50¢ fractional note issued between July of 1869 and February of 1875. These notes were used primarily in an era where coins were in short supply. The catalog number for this particular note is Fr.1374.

The reverse of your notes reads the following.

"This note is exchangeable for United States notes by the assistant treasurers and designated depositaries of the United States in sums not less than three dollars. receivable payment of all dues to the United States less than five dollars except customs."

Nice to have a piece of history, even if it is showing its age.

That is a great piece of history and a wonderful note to have. No corners are missing and no tape. Wonderful.
