All right! I really like your interest in cents---distinguishes you from the tables after tables of Morgans you see at most shows.

Thank you everyone. You're all so kind and we both appreciate all your good wishes and prayers. I am so grateful that things weren't worse. Every day I look at Lou and am so thankful that he's here with me.

He is doing pretty well today, each day a little better. Today he had a haircut (a full buzz), which will make it easier to keep his hair/head clean. I told him, with the bruise from the black eye, he looks a little like Uncle Fester!

The home health care people came by and will be sending a physical therapist in a couple days to help him stay strong. It amazes me just how strong this man already is, both physically and in his will. He's already walking, bending, and getting around the house on his own pretty easily, no more walker. The halo apparatus is quite heavy but he is managing it very well. He's already off his pain meds, but he takes Aleve for the pressure and discomfort of the pin areas. I'm a little more worried that he won't take it easy and will overdue it too soon! He rests often since sleeping through the night is still a challenge, for me as well but we are trying different pillow positions and sizes to make him as comfortable as possible.

Anyway, things are progressing positively, and I am sure it is in no small part due to all the love and support we have been receiving from everyone. Again, thank you.

Your main squeeze Lou and you have been in my prayers since I saw the news. God bless all the folks who had a part in helping you both. Get well soon (and that's for BOTH of you)!

Hope he's ready to go racing again when he's all healed up. And BTW it's very cool that the Marines who helped won that leg of the race and got their time back!

Lou has racing in his soul, but right now we're not going there. And the marines didn't just win that "leg" of the race, they won their class in the entire race! We've been trying to find out who they are so we can thank them properly.

That's so awesome. I'm glad they were trained, but I bet the racing community is so tight that anyone would have stopped to go help.

We just found out that Lou's navigator, Rich, was able to speak with the marines after the crash, and he has their contact information. He also has info on the paramedic and the helicopter pilot and will forward all their information to us. Lou and I are looking forward to talking with them and thanking each of them with all our hearts for what they did.

Wishing Lou a speedy recovery. I hope you find out who the marines were. So glad them and Lou and Richs guardian angels were close by. Best of luck with taking care of him and all your coin endeavors

Thanks again everyone, we feel all your thoughts and prayers in our hearts!

I've already been asked by several people whether I would "let" Lou race again. Well first of all, anyone who knows Lou would know that no one "let's" him do what he does - he does what he wants - and I'm ok with that.
As I said, I know Lou has racing in his soul. He's been racing all his life. When I met him, he was racing motorcycles and now off road buggies. I enjoy going off roading with him and have never begrudged him his racing, even when he began racing motorcycles soon after he broke his neck from an off road accident (also in Mexico) and had C-4-5-6 fused with a plate 20 years ago.

My feeling is that if Lou really wants to put another car together and get back out there after he's all healed, I'm really ok with that. I want him to enjoy life, wherever that takes him. Neither one of us would prevent the other from doing the things that make us happy, and we both have said, we'd rather go out doing what we love, whatever that is. I just told him, in his case, make sure his life insurance is paid up!

By the way, we just found a report of the race and rescue made by Car 68 (the ones who rescued Lou and Rich), here's a link: http://www.race-dezert.com/for...us-race-report.125531/

First off, Lou will heal a lot faster with his nurse, Sierra, in attendance. Even if you HUMANS don't believe this. I tell you, give a primate a thumb and they think they own the universe...

Second thanks for the link to Car 68 - it's always nice to read "the other side of the story". They definitely rock. But the link above got chopped, it's http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/threads/68-lord-humungus-race-report.125531/

Third - I get it's his life and his choices, but slap him around a bit for even THINKING of driving home instead of flying to a US Hospital.

This is a message from my hubby Lou to all of you:

"This is the first day I've felt like part of the human race again, even after the halo man came by and "screwed" me yesterday (he tightened the screws in my halo and boy, did it hurt!).

I just want to thank everyone who has kept me in their prayers and thoughts and have wished me well though this ordeal. I want to thank my wife Charmy and each of my friends who have gotten me through this so far. You cannot imagine how much your support has meant to me during this time. Again, I just want to say thank you to you all.

As Timbuk 3 said in their 80's song:

"Things are going great, and they're only getting better
I'm doing all right, getting good grades
The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades"

Again, your support and prayers are very much appreciated, thank you."

Just thought I'd give a little update. Lou is doing better each day and I have to remind him not to do too much. He gets around pretty well, just still has trouble sleeping, even with a wedge pillow. Also, some of Lou's Car 161 Team members brought back his truck and some of what was left of his car in Mexico. (Another team member brought home the engine and transmission which will be here later this week.) The guys were able to bring back a lot of parts from the car, but this piece is all that they got off the frame (which remains on the side of the mountain in Mexico) - it's the panel that was on the roof of the car.

They also brought back his helmet which is pretty beat up and has a good-sized crack. Even though Lou received a concussion and a fractured neck and back in the crash, this helmet saved his life. Every day I look at my sweet Lou, I am so grateful he is here with me.

If it were me, I'd keep that helmet on my mantel.
