Bought this coin yesterday for $57. One of my bigger purchases but a nice monster of a coin. Feel free to post any related coins below!
I like it! It is no doubt a well-loved piece, but it has a ton of character. The staples are a bit terrifying.
Found this one a few years ago in a coin show bargain box. I think I paid $12 for it as the dealer had it for sale as an undated piece of junk silver. 1676 England, Charles II, Crown
Every so often a deal like that comes along. I bought my 1898 Queen Victoria Crown for spot a couple of years so I cant complain. I still think I did well on this one though, what do others think?
Excellent value both - I deal in coins occasionally and there is no way I would sell either of those at those prices! I also collect and have quite a few Charles II coins of my own. This is one of my favourites:
My Charles II is at the other end of the scale to the crown: Silver Halfgroat, 12mm, 1.01g, undated 'machine made' issue, 1662. CAROLVS II DGMBF&H REX. CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO. Ex W C Boyd Collection (S.3318).
