    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

The TPG's tell you right on their web sites what varieties and errors they attribute. Why would you send something they don't attribute and get angry with them when you get it back un-attributed?

Does your time not have any value?

I have a 1996 penny that was nipped dead center of its rim and 3 tiny pieces of copper the size of a grain of sand were implanted into face of the penny below the date ... is that worth sending in and haveing certified?

That sounds like post mint damage. Post a picture so we can be sure.

Generally, unless you are an error 'expert' or have a number of years looking at them, saying "it's definitly a mint error" is a great recipe for being utterly and completely wrong. Occasionally, probably on the order of someone winning the lottery or being struck by lightning in winter, someone actually does have a mint error.

But unless we have pics, it did not happen, and most likely your 'mint error' sure-thing is either something like worthless DDD or PMD.

No one can tell from words. Post the pic when you can get to the coin and then we’ll comment.

Damage comes in all forms, errors are limited.

it's got an obvious nip out of it and it's been smashed into face of coin. but ill post pictures asap on Monday. but have any of you heard of such an error? ive talked to other avid collectors and they say it could be a unique strike error .. I'm praying it is since nobody I've talked to has seen one.

Doubtful. I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

You have no clue what DDD or PMD is, but you are sure it is a mint error?????

We all have heard of a lot of errors, but pics will be necessary. We cannot possibly say yes or no based on a short description and question.

And I think it is more likely not a mint error, only based on statistics here and the fact that you have no idea what PMD means.

I would love to know what percentage of the TPGs revenue comes from coins that are junk and either don’t get graded or come back as a completely common circulated details coin?

I’m going to guess it’s a pretty high percentage and has gone up in the YouTube coin era.

There are several genuine error experts who regularly post here. You can get there advice absolutely free, if they say to send it in then you can do it. What you describe does not sound like any kind of error. 50 dollars may be a small price to pay, personally I would rather save the 50 and buy coins with it!
