[QUOTE="Chopswell, post: 778081, member: 22496"]Ccgs coins on ebay - cameo coin grading svc...

I wanted to alert you guys to what I'm "FEELING" could be a major scam on eBay. I was reading your posts about CCGS and at the time those posts were written, it wasn't this new guy "CAMEO COIN." 1st, check out this auction on eBay. A beautiful 1883-S Morgan. Look at his NO RESERVE opening bid and his Buy It Now. We're talking opening bid that's 1/10th the BIN with NO RESERVE! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180451947792

He runs ALL his auctions as "PRIVATE" and every one of his coins are in these cameo coin grading service holders, which I've NEVER heard of.

Here's my concern. I bought a 1903-O Morgan from one of those chinese people as a GIFT for my brother, who collects Morgans. It was one he wanted badly and even though I knew it would say "replica," I asked the seller if he could stamp that on the reverse of the coin, instead of the obverse, like in the auction. The chinese guy wrote me back and told me he would be HAPPY to not stamp replica!! In fact, he sent me a link I no longer have, that showed these gorgeous BU coins that he went on to say that for ONLY $200, he would make me ANY SILVER COIN and it would be of correct composition, dimension and meticulous detail that he even guaranteed it would pass ANY authentication. ONLY $200!!! So my concern here is (by the way, the 1903-O came WITHOUT replica and cost me a whole $4.00, including shipping. Size was right on...and detail was VG, but composition wasn't) my concern is if this guy in China finds an unscrupulous person in the US willing to pay $200 per GEM BU coin and the buyer here (in this case, Boston) knows they likely would NOT get authenticated by the 'big 4,' so he creates his own grading co, slabs them and offers them, like in this case, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180451947792, for an opening bid 1/10th of the BIN and NO RESERVE!

Something's definitely fishy here. I certainly haven't the means to do anything about this. I'm POOR. But, I know many of you guys are NOT and also don't like this kind of stuff even worse than I do!

By the way, I used a stamp die and punched 'copy' on the reverse of the coin I was giving to my brother!

I hope my concerns aren't a waste of your times and I just felt a true need to bring this to someone's attention who MAY be able to dig and discover and if this guy is a fake, that he be stopped in his tracks.

Some of you may have seen me around on eBay in the past. I'm the coinclocks guy. I haven't been on since August because I basically fell victim to very hard times, what with my wife being disabled and me unable to work to care for her....We tried to make it, but fell short. I'm still passionate about coins and if anyone would ever want one of my clocks, please email me and I'll show you a FREE, working example online....I just can't accept PayPal. It would have to be a check or money order. Here...Here's one I just did so you can see what I'm talking about! http://coinclocks1.fileave.com/1890 FLASH.swf you can send me a note to mike@customclox.com and I prefer to use collector's own coin images.
