pics are hosted from F/B; I think Zuckers deliberately inverts them GRRR........... Circular damage from rolling machines? Would the '44 S grade? Observations, comments?
Yes, circular machine damage. Questionable color on the 1944-S, and it wouldn't be worth the expense of submitting for professional grading anyway.
I'll give you a penny for the 1944 S ... shipped of course the rolling machine certain scribed into the metal on those ones ...
SOLD ... to Claw! (pretty generous dude - I was afraid I might have to send the cent, AND a check). ___ I was sure thinking a $ or 2 tho'...
44-S appears cleaned, I would give it a details grade. Common coins like that aren't worth grading. It's better practice to look at coins, and look at coins that have grades and learn how to grade them yourself. It may not be exact, but it's better for you in the long run.
Probably true MK; but I doubt I'd ever send one off for grading - I'm STRICTLY 'collector'; not 'investor' I'm only wondering if it would make ~58+, with collar ding. Mickey Mouse cam does no justice; I could do better, if it was worth it (more than a $ or 2, or worth more than another cent) Don't think it's been cleaned tho'...
Cents that aren't cleaned are usually brown. If they have been cleaned, they take on a pink or orange color. Which is unnatural for cents. It could be the lighting, and I am only going by the photograph but it doesn't look right. I'm not saying you cleaned it. But someone may have before it came into your possession.
Here's your coin. There is the rim ding you mentioned and some nicks on the vest. The letter R in LIBERTY took a hit. And some unusual streaks on the back. And the coin is QC (questionable color). It wouldn't be AU because the detail from the left wheat stalk is missing. I don't even think it is XF. VF-details
Wipe man, WIPE! You know - front-to-back, back-to-front, sideways, blot, spin, etc. Whatsa' question?
The flatness also suggests cleaning. If this coin were even XF it would have some mint luster left. But the coin has a flat, dead appearance. Fortunately it's only a 44-S. It's a 3 cent coin.
