Well did you photograph the coin in the slab, or scan it?

It looks like a scan compared to the pics in your OP.

People tend to photograph coins in slabs incorrectly. First, natural light is always better than artificial--whether or not it is tungsten or fluorescent. I have a lens that has a 1.8 max aperture, and that will always capture the coin as it should look. Cell phone shots, and scans remove any trace of luster or detail. Even if it says that your cell phone has a 12 megapixel camera, it still isn't good enough to take pictures of coins (and it isn't really 12 megapixels).

The pictures in the slab were taken in natural light with a Panasonic Lumix - a decent, but certainly not new camera. The original pictures I didn't take - I used them because they had better/more detail than anything I had taken of it. Maybe I'll try using a magnifying lens next time I take pictures. With silver coins reflection seems to be a problem - and with slabs too. With gold coins I find the difficulty is getting the color. Details seem easier to get, maybe because there's often less reflection, but color is tough to get right. I took the one that is my icon there. The color isn't bad but the luster doesn't really show up.
