I was just in Laughlin last Sunday/Monday collecting/converting some Freeplay money into cash. The Flamingo years ago changed its name to Aquarius...so that silver strike may carry a premium? I have about 30 silver strikes, most of them came from slot machines in Laughlin. That would be a cool promotion for the casinos to do again.
Hey RTE, hope you got lucky at Laughlin. I am heading to the Hardrock this evening to convert some freeplay myself, but we all know how that goes I have a couple dozen tokens myself and enjoy picking them up here and there. I wish the Casinos would go back to the promotion tokens too. I think they are cool collectibles. Good Luck in Laughlin!
I worked in a few casinos in Central City, Colorado. There were a number of interesting designs. And of course rare ones from businesses that opened and closed. This one I found metal detecting. You never know.
Speaking of casinos that opened and closed, I have a mint $1 chip from Revel Casino, and unless you are an East Coast guy, you probably have never heard of it. It was the first new casino to open in Atlantic City in decades. It opened on 4/2/2012 and closed its doors on 9/2/2014, didn't even make it 2.5 years. The property was later sold and reopened under the name of Ocean Casino and is still in operation today. The problem with my chip having value is that the place was so short lived, I don't even know if the chips in use had any time to get grimy and worn, every chip might look mint or near mint.
We did okay. I usually just play blackjack or roulette ( black or red ) to convert Freeplay into cash... usually can convert 1-1+ with a system of sorts... Cough Cough, your milage may vary
