I imagine that Thalia Elizabeth will get most of my collection at some point, assuming she hasn't outcollected me by then...

assuming I don't die suddenly there will come a time when I liquidate my collection. At the moment I am having a lot of fun and even though it is growing slowly I am not ready to sell. But I choose not to let my coins be a burden on my heirs. I am the collector and I know the best way(s) to maximize the value of the coins. And after all they are just stuff; bits of metal with pictures stamped on them. My heirs don't need the hassle of being at the mercy of some coin dealer when they try to get the value out of my collection and I wouldn't want them to get less than they should so I will be certain to take care of it myself before I go. It just seems the most compassionate thing to do for them.

Now if I end up with one of my heirs being a collector (my kids are still too young to know for sure) then I will be certain to find out if there is any part of it they'd want before selling the rest.

My hobo nickels ~ they serve as the ultimate answer to 'what is my coin worth' anytime someone asks~ and help me keep other similar life matters in perspective.

Well barring some extremely desparate financial situation, I plan to avoid selling any of my coins while I'm still alive. Most wouldn't bring that much anyway... and I always feel that as long as I'm still alive I can always earn more money but may never be able to get that coin back. I deeply regretted when in a financial emergency I had to resrot to selling a coin I got as a gift (2005 1/10 oz. gold eagle) and bought it back again as soon as I could afford it (it was not the same individual coin but I don't intend on letting the person who got it for me ever know that). Ever since then have vowed not to sell any more of my coins if there's the least bit of chance of avoiding it.

Only other person in my family who has anywhere close to my interest in coins is my youngest brother, who still doesn't have as much as I do. If he's still alive when I die he's the one getting my coins (if I have any children before then, might change that, but no definite plans to procreate atm lol), only one I can trust to actually care about them and not just sell them all off. My grandmother's collection of various coins is mine now and that will be part of what I pass on.

my grandma gave me the kick into collecting, of course all I have bought have mixed in except the morgans and the 2 peace dollars I have, they're the keepers
along with all the old Polish coins I received from all my relatives in Poland
I guess I would be able to sell if an emergency occurred, luckily my dad is one hell of a smart guy when it comes to things like that....also supports my collecting 500%...... not so much my mom :(

I have some sacs that my dad gave me a few years ago, they are so discolored, have some wear I think, but even though they don't have much numismatic value, have a lot of sentimental.

The 22 Peace Dollars that my grandma gave me for a wedding present 25 years ago. They still reside in an old talcum powder container, and they smell like it, too. It takes me back to the day, and it truly was a gift of the Magi.
