Sorry about the heart attacks everyone. It wasn't meant intentionally.
Will try to make up for it by stating a warning somewhat like a movie rating next time.

Gonna give the linking info a try tcore.
The chalk comes off the finest of fabrics, so it cannot possible hurt this coin.
By the way, you notice my newest post has the name changed to the correct emporer.

I wouldnt worry about it, you cant do much more to that coin that the ravages of time and the elements hasnt already done. :)

    Valerian I coin

I want so much to show the picture of the coin I found at the website
    mentioned before.
There is a struggle in me that says I cannot do this because the photographs on the website are likely copyrighted.
What do you think? Totally wrong? Or, okay if it is properly attributed to the website owners?
This isn't a poll, I just want to know if you are familiar with the rules about such things and can help me to decide.

here you go...I dont think its against the rules to just link an image of a coin for sale on the internet, you arent stealing it for profit or anything

Rare variety Mint of Viminacium AR antoninianus, Valerian (253-260 AD). Valerianus facing right, IMP C P LIC VALERIANVS AVG / P M TR P I I COS PP, Valerian standing left, sacrificing over an altar. Mint of Viminacium (Moesia), RIC 208, Cohen 159a.

BTW I get a lot of uncleaned coins at that site, very good place for uncleaned coins IMO.

    Thank you Drusus.

This is a tough one. The coin, in the pictures you so kindly posted for me, is
dissimilar in several devices in on its weaker reverse.
Is it possible different mints produced the same basic image?

My coin has a strong reverse and weak obverse so I know there will be wear differences. The web coin rev figure seems as if it is facing left, yet on my coin the head appears to have a helmet-head. The motto letters on my coin seem to have longer serifs on most of the letters, and the S of cos on the web coin appears to have an equally separated top and bottom shape. My coin has a longer and lower bottom.
The indentification of my coin is getting quite complicated and may be in need of furthur research. I have always said to myself that not everyone who is collecting these coins could possibly have seen every single coin minted.
I guess I will have to make up my mind about this someday.

Do you think this is the same mint design?
