So, decided to take advantage of my time off, and the spare silver quarters I found, to try to get an album and other supplies from my favorite LCS. 2 slight disappointments: 1. They didn't have the album I wanted (Dansco 7140, Washington Quarters 1932-1998, no proofs). 2. They weren't buying any silver, but they would take 90% silver coins in trade at 35x face value (seeing with silver roughly $60 an ounce, they're worth retail of about 40x face, not a bad deal if only doing at small quantities.) (They also had almost nothing in their main cases. Not sure why; maybe they did inventory, maybe they just came back from a coin show, something like that I guess. I didn't think to ask.) So... picked out a Dansco 7101 album for Indian Head Cents (have a few, so why not)- $17 lightly used (barely, from what I can tell.) Nickel and quarter sized 2x2 cardboard flips, $7.25 per box (not sure how many in a box, but quite a few) 4 Quarter size plastic tubes, 75 cents each. A 1905 Indian Head cent, looks gold or bronze plated or something. Not album worthy, but looks neat, and only $1 so why not. They would trade all this for $1 face worth of silver quarters, sounds like a good deal to me. I get out the door, taking mental inventory then realized... oops, I gave them $3 face (so $105 worth in trade by their standards). So went back in. She realized the mistake, and gave me back $2 face of silver quarters, but because they already dumped mine in their big box of silver quarters, they had no idea which specific 8 I gave them. So they just scooped 8 random ones and gave those back to me. Took them home and looked what I got back... 3x 1964, 1964-D, I think probably the same ones I accidentally left in the first place. A really, really nice 1962, high AU if not MS, and honestly really amazing looking. Definitely keeping that! A 1928-D Standing Liberty quarter, nice! A standing Liberty quarter, definitely an S, definitely a Type II, but I can't for the life of me read the date no matter how much I stared at it. I can only guess 1917-1924. Well can't really complain about that! Sadly my bank was out of quarters and I couldn't get another box to look through (maybe word got out on my 16-silver quarter box lol). So waiting a week or two to try another box. Quarter album should arrive in the mail by then so that works out.
