that Ebay link I just posted said theirs was a replica. hmmmm. @Siberian Man we need your help on the OP coin. thanks.
i don't have a scale but i'd guess considerably more than 4 grams it's weirdly bulged out in the middle on both sides
Yes there is a one Kopeck of Elizabeth from 1755, but this is NOT it. On the real 1755 one Kopeck coins the design was the same on both sides, an EP monogram on an eagle with a cloud background. The mintmark at the bottom on one side and the date on the other side. And the weight was 20.5 grams, or a little less than that of an Ike dollar. I can't find that reverse style used anywhere in the Russian series of that era, and that bust of Elizabeth doesn't appear on coins smaller than 1/4 ruble. This looks like a fantasy piece to me.
hmmmm well i found the reverse style on several different russian coins... but not with that bust and idk anything about russian coins if ur right, bummer but what about the ebay one?
Conder101 is correct. I think the real Kopek has the same design on the both sides. and it's not the Elizabeth side either.
It is definitely bad copy of... something (I don't even konw, how to call it). It looks like "mule" of rouble and kopek. 1755 kopek should look very similar to that: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Russia...088061?hash=item3d4239c7fd:g:OlUAAOSwuxFY0cwJ And rouble from that era is roughly something like that (the portrait type for 1755 would be slightly different, but you get the idea of engraving quality and style):
it also looks like it is made of bronze making it look brassy and not like made of copper. it is worth something to the right person just not a lot of money.
1 Kopek see the reverse? I was guessing 10 Kopeks from the gold color, but the reverse says 1 Kopek. You'd be wise to note its' diameter & weight too. Only the gold Kopeks from this year have the lady on front. The bronze & copper 1 Kopek coins have a different obverse with same reverse. Some other place including Ali-Express sells copies . https://www.raritetus.ru/stoimost-monet/carskie-monety/elizaveta/med/1-kopejka-1755-novodel-bez-bukv-16232/
Perhaps it was meant to deceive the normal person, a magicians coin, but the gold weight and composition. Get it weighed in grams, and acid tested for gold content.
