Nice job! I personally have never cleaned a coin and probably would not attempt it. But, I have some AV Celtic coins that where found by metal detectorists, so these where probably cleaned by "experts" I once won a rare
western Roman Empire AV Solidus that was FDC/ but had a teeny weeny soil deposit/ CNG ended up removing that before sending it to me:)

Gold's a different story and seldom requires as extensive a cleaning.

As to retained soil deposits, I like the dirt on my Norman tari so much that I left it there when the coin was submitted for certification.

If you look closely enough, there's even one small white grain (quartz, maybe) still adhering to the right crossbar of the cross. That's a tiny little piece of Sicilian history, right there. :)

Yes. Le Crayon à Andre. That's the product I was wondering about. Thanks.

    How to become a Supporter

Don't feel bad. I initially couldn't remember where to find that information, either, the last time someone asked, which is why I posted that thread. It is now a "sticky" post at the top of the Announcements forum, among other places. Many thanks to all the Supporters of CoinTalk.
