Your getting a bargain at 5 bucks a bottle $7.90 here for all the different types, it fascinates me how they can produce it and send it across the pacific and sell it for less (although with the exchange rate probably similar) than here.
I know there is good and bad wine, but I can't tell the difference. Only what tastes good or not. Price means nothing. So I get 2 Buck Chuck:
At the current exchange rate that's about $7 US per bottle, so that is a significant percentage savings. But, it's all in the taxes (most of which many people are not ware of). While in the US we have taxes many in the world envy, others are amazed at how cheap they are (and in many cases vice versa for other products). Yes, I am truly amazed that anyone can ship beer, wine, spirits, all around the world for the end prices. Can one imagine how much it costs to buy a container ship, staff it, load it, then pay to send it around the world? Unload it, pay the import taxes, etc. And in the end, I only pay $5 for a bottle of Australian wine????? Its insane! I will pay that price! Any day, any time! And I can and do consider the same idea for coins.

Gads! Well, if you cant tell the difference... I have always said the same thing with coins. If one cant tell the difference between this $1,000 coin and this $100 coin, well, you definitely need to buy the cheaper one!
I drink water which is free here but not everywhere, I hear. You may fight all you want about International exchange rates but you don't have to go that far in the US to get the differences. Buying the same thing in California or New York is a shock for those of us who live in Virginia. My house is worth about 1/4 the price of the same house in a Washington DC suburb and 1/10 a house in San Francisco (judging from people I know who live there). Location, Location, Location they say! The fact is I'd rather live here where coins are cheap and water is free (unless you know where to go for a free Senior drink to wash down your dollar menu meal). I somehow suspect all of you make more than I do. There was a cute cartoon in the paper a couple weeks ago: http://www.gocomics.com/pluggers/2017/02/05
This was our favourite Australian wine while it lasted ... sadly, we can't get it anymore (it was a bit like the 7 deadly zins ... it was a "blend" of awesomeness) ... yah, I'm not exactly "picky" when it comes to spirits!!
There's a Vineyard in Temecula Ca. Called Callaway their Zin blend is one of the best I've ever tasted. $$$ But very yummy! But how about a nice Canadian ice wine . And one of those funny cigars
Ice wine you say...they make it literally a 3 minute drive from my house. I am surrounded by wineries. There are at least 80 wineries within 20 minutes drive. As for ice wine I have a couple of bottles I received as gift but I do not drink it...it is way too sweet. I have a good relationship with one the local wineries. I give them a call and they put a case together for me. It usually costs around 72.00 CAD.
