Well, I can thank Spock for my new found affinity to foreign coins - but I am only limiting it to Canadian and British coins for now. NO RUPEES! :hammer: So here is what I got today.... the 2008 Canadian coin and stamp set. It is much nicer than I thought. It contains a 2008 proof half dollar with the dates 1908-2008 to commemorate a hundred years since Canada's first domestically minted coin, which was the half. Also included in the set is a 52 cent stamp that has a pic of the first half dollar. The pic of the half is true to size. The presentation box is very nice. I like it better than the ones that the first spouse coins come in. It has a wonderful metal engraving, of what I presume to be the Ottawa mint, on the top of the box. The coin is encapsulated in an Airtite like holder with a black foam insert around the coin. The only thing that could have been better was the stamp holder. The stamps were placed in a Showguard type black cut to size mount, but of better quality and a bit more firm. I would like to have seen them in a plastic snap together holder, but economically this was probably the best option. Only 16,000 of these sets will be made. I really like the set and it was a nice surprise when I came home during a break from work today.... considering that there was a big sticker slapped across the box that said, do not leave package without signature. Hope you all enjoy the pics.
