How is the colour of the crown achieved? Is it a sticker, painted, enamelled, or some other process?

Jello_g,I think that it has been enamelled. The same thing applies to the $300 gold medal-coin.

Aidan, for such a high retail price, I would hope the RCM would put out nothing but the highest quality product. I'll find out for sure once I examine one, but I'm not a big fan of their non-circulating legal tender.

Jello_g,I can guess that WhispTech would have rushed out & bought one.I am sure that he wouldn't have minded paying C$19.95 for a 25c. medal- coin.He had a fine collection of Canadian medal-coins that he used to show us.Has anyone heard from him since he stormed off from here in a huff? It isn't possible to email him, unless you have his email address.

I have the coin... it is definately not enamelled, nor painted (by hand?) nor stickered (thats just stupid!). It looks like it is printed somehow. (Dots easily visible under a magnifling glass)

As a second guess, its white enamel with printing on it! It think its impossible to get enamel of different colors in a design that fine. It still is a pretty coin btw.

Jaytant,if it was a circulation piece like the Canadian Red Poppy 25c. coin,it would have to be enamelled,as paint or a sticker would come off pretty much straight away.

Can you please post a picture of your crown-sized 25c. medal-coin?

I dont think its a circulation piece... my best attempt at a picture ... here goes!
The fiber like thing in the picture is a mark on the outside shrink-wrap type packaging.

Jaytant, that is a very nice piece. It has definitely been enamelled as part of the striking process.

Aidan, what do you mean by 'enamelled'?
Neither this coin, nor the red poppy 25c, are enamelled.
Although considering the mintage and issue price, it should have been, it would have
looked a lot better, and they still would have made a nice profit.

    She really liked it!

Wasn't gold, of course :D but she liked the colorized (or should I say colourized or colourised) crown.

    Thanks for asking, Aidan.

George, that's brilliant! I haven't yet got any of the Canadian circulating colourised 25c. coins, but I will eventually get them.

    Aidan.
