me too. I'm still looking for this one too! 2006 Haxby claims 30 million of these were minted. And since I DO have one of these, I tend to believe that number.
for the 5c coins: 1999: The P coins were being r&d'd, they were only 'released' in 'test sets', I think about 20,000. 2000: The P coins were not supposed to be out, but I guess they had a shortage of no-P, so most from 2000 will have no-P, its harder to find a P. 2001: All the coins were supposed to have a P, but I guess they found those missing no-P blanks they lost last year... So in 2001, the P is the common one, and the no-P is harder to find. Between the 2000 P/no-P, and the 2001 P/no-P, the 2000P is the hardest to find, but most strikes were quite strong, and the plating technology really held up, so even though its 7 years later, you can still pull some pretty nice examples of the 2000P out of your change.
And in case anyones interested, the supposed 'rare' 5c 2006 no-P had an official mintage of 43 million, I'm glad I didn't pay the $20+ most places were asking for a roll when they were first discovered.
Chris,is the 2001 cupro-nickel 5c. coin a scarce coin? I have got one of those.I am sure glad that I didn't turn that one down. Aidan.
Aidan, I'll check my Haxby when I get home. If I get a chance, I swing by a bookstore and check both Haxby and Charleton. I have to head out today to take care of the deposit on our house, so a few extra minutes won't be a problem.
These are the 5c mintages for 2000/2001: 2000 No P : 105,868,000 2000 P : 4,899,000 2001 No P : 30,035,000 2001 P : 136,656,000 These figures are from Charlton (61st ed) and match up with the mintages from the RCM 2004 annual report.
2001 p canada nickel is not rare you guys are all wrong. the rare one is the 2001 no "p" nickel this is worth about 12.5 cdn
You're talking in the wind, quynten...... this thread is five years old and all those members are long gone.
Saw y'alls vine about the 2001 P Canadian. Got one in change at the jack-n-box the other day. Looks very fine. Probably would come out to a ms68. But on the silver issue your talking about. Weigh it. More silver, more weight.
Also girls know a silver test I thought was funny. Base makeup. Put some on an oily area of your skin. Run the coin through it. Silver leaves a pretty obvious dark line.
