<p>
No idea where this goes - world, error? nah, just a coin chat. I was browsing Canadian on GC and immediately saw the strong obverse die clash on this PCGS MS62. I needed to fill the nickel gap in my UNC George VI so I put in a bid. Won for $16 including BP and shipping. USPS was a fiasco but it arrived yesterday, more than two weeks after purchase. These are sometimes generically called Hearing Aid varieties for the clash inside the ear. I've seen them listed for nickels and dollars in various years, so they're not that uncommon. The dies took a serious whacking this time though. The two images above highlight different die cracks on the reverse, and in hand I detect some subsistence of parts of that die. I'm thinking it didn't last long afterwards. The overlay on Maddieclashes is quite busy and not aligned properly, so I reversed the reverse and put in some arrows to show where the obverse clashing came from. I'm surprised there isn't more clash on the reverse considering how broken the die is from it.
