This was the first time I have ever deposited rolled coins at the bank, I was with them for over 3 years.
You have to check your rolls. You were the one that deposited them. You are responsible for the shortage. You are going to suffer the consequences.
I always verify my count. I've been shorted too many times on CWR, so I always verify that one roll has 20 coins, and that the other rolls all match up. It's saved me the headache you're having 5-6 times in the last year alone. And when I dump, I always re-roll un unmarked wrappers, or deposit them in bags.
After this has happened I have greatly lost interest in this hobby, I am thinking about starting to sell off my collection, but then probably regret it in the future.
They say after a tramatic event like loosing a loved one, or bank you should wait at least a year before making any major decisions. lol seriously though, why sell? you know you will get back into it at some point. It's insulting that a business would tell you that they don't want you as a customer. It's frustrating that they are so big there is really nothing any one person can do to cause them to feel reget for there decision. (unless you are someday a billionaire. then you can waive that check in there face held with the middle finger!) anyway, it will fade. there are other banks. This place will probably go under in a few years with the next crash anyway.
@ Noobistmatist So you 'thought' you deposited $700 worth to Bank C, but they found it necessary to make a correction after finding the discrepancy of $35, and so they also cancelled your account. Now, if your account has been cancelled, did you go ask about the remaining balance of money you had in the account? There must be $665 plus anything else you may have had in the account floating around now... Better go claim that money or be asking when the check will be sent to you. Seems like that's a bigger issue... to have that money to keep playing the coin roll hunting game than bemoaning this careless incident. Perhaps if you really, really want to keep this bank for the purpose of coin roll hunting, you could offer to deposit a lot more money to them to help persuade them to allow you to have an account there. I suspect Bank C was aware of how damaging such fraudulent activity can be to a business like a bank as some people do try to pull fast ones. Not saying you, the OP, are doing this. You were just careless this time. I'm sure you learned to be more cautious or less casual about your deposits so you don't repeat the problem. I also suspect they opted to cancel if your account is typically of average minimal holding and not one of financial benefit to Bank C. They are not loosing out by loosing a small account if that's the case. I really think you should go back and talk to Bank C's customer service and try doing better business with them to rectify your reputation with Bank C and regain your ability to do business there as it sounds worth your interests in coin roll hunting to have their services at your disposal.
I know some banks don't recheck the rolls. But if I were a branch manager on the receiving end of rolls wrapped in paper that looks like it was reused 5 or 6 times over, it would be a red flag to double check. Just think of one thing, when you receive rolls that look like that in the first place, you're actually putting your trust in a number of CBH'ers that have recycled them over and over and you know most of them don't count too. In the end, you ended up getting burned for someone elses mistakes. It's unfortunate but see this as a learning lesson. And time to get a relative to open an account there to help you get more rolls from this point forward. Don't bite the hand that feeds ya!
I know I always re roll my coins that I search through and I even write a note on the side of the wrapper as to whats in the wrapper. Silly I know but one day I went to buy a roll of CWR dollars, the teller came out with a roll and I said "no I don't want that one I've already looked through it" and she said "how do you know?" and I replied "I wrote that note of it being SACs & SBA dollars".
If you dont have the time or common sense to check your returned amounts. i wouldn'T do business with you either.
@Cheech9712 This thread is over 6 years old . Still having residual effects from your holiday on Friday? lol
Banks without machines go by weight and have small digital scales to weigh rolls, with a chart for what they should weigh.
