Can you tell the difference between a proof and an SMS?

SMS coins come in a variety of looks. No one would think this one is proof but it was cut (by me) from the OGP. I love the reverse picture as you can really see the "pink" reeds of the edge of the coin. The feeling of the "sharpness" of the reeds on the fingertips when first released from its plastic is also pretty cool!

Edit: oops forgot to upload pictures!

You would be surprised by how many new members see the YouTube clickbait sites about finding rare coins in change as think their 1964 AU half of cent is an SMS because it looks new. The best are the ones that argue that the CT members are all jealous because they weren't the ones that found a rare coin so that's why they're lying to the newbie.

I think that's why you got all the educational posts about 1964 SMS.

I don't mind at all, I actually did learn a thing or two.
I'm just happy someone talked to me....;)

The other thing that qued me to the second nickel is the polishing lines and satiny look. You will not find that finish on a business nor a proof strike.
