I recently received the coins pictured in a submission sent to NGC. Anyone notice the problem? If you need a little help check out the cert pages linked below. https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/2923085-002/65/ https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/2923085-003/62/
Without looking up the cert, and not having a clue what I'm looking at, it appears they are in the wrong holders. The coin on the right clearly has "Birmingham Mining" on it.
I'm surprised that they such an obvious mistake. What will be your course of action? Will you let us know what they said. They should reimburse or offer you 2 free submissions!
Really bad mix-up. Aside from that, I find the two-headed cow very interesting. I wonder if there was a living model or if it is total fantasy.
They are going out in tomorrow's mail. I spoke to NGC yesterday and they sent me a shipping label so it won't cost anything to send them back. I haven't many issues with them, and when there is one they take care of it.
Your situation shows carelessness and a lack of pride in work in my opinion. I hand delivered coins to NGC from the UK in July, still waiting and my regular submissions check vacillates between grading and quality control. I spoke to them a month ago and was told the bulk were ready and they were waiting for one coin and they would put a rush on it. I'm still waiting. I didn't decide to grade coins for investment only to make certain coins more saleable for my children in the future so I'm not looking for points gain but mainly confirmation of authenticity. I have lived longer than I will live so not prepared to wait six months again for a lousy service so from here on in it will be ICG. Considering the major discovery ICG made at the FUN show regarding a fake coin and holder, I believe I will be in good hands. I hope you get a quick response to the error @Chris B . On a positive note , you have great coins. I live in Wales where the bulk of copper was mined and processed in the 18th Century that was used to mint these coins and I have started collecting them myself. Only yesterday I won this at the LAC numismatic book auction. There are a couple more interesting books, one published by the Museum of Wales and a great book on the Welsh Copper industry ( A toilsome task of industry - J Richard Williams) which explains amongst other things how the monarchy managed to get their claws in the mining of copper as far back as Elizabeth 1 by granting licenses to landowners to mine their own minerals! Great work if you can get it.
