The coin is 2.66 grams and 13 mm in diameter. Can anyone tell me something about it?

Could possibly be Celtic or early Anglo Saxon.

It doesn't look Celtic IMHO. But I have nothing else to offer.

Perhaps Byzantine, since they have a lot of crosses. But I've never seen that specific design and dark color. It's in nice shape, whatever it is

This is a very cool coin and quite unusual to find any info on it if you don't know where to start. I found a page in Michael Mitchiner's World of Islam on page 328 under The Crusades, #'s 2420-2438. I was looking for something else and happened upon this page only a few days ago. The material before it was on the Crusades. Totally accidental my my brain remembered where to look as a result of your posting.

It's lead: Mitchiner says: "A series of small Byzantine inspired lead coins." It has a star obverse, reverse is crossed crosses. Mitchiner goes on to say: "This small hoard of lead coins was brought to London bya Turkish dealer in 1975 along with sundry Byzantine and Isslamic copper coins from the Turkey-Syria region. Scatteered additional coins of the lead series have been seen since then in London."

I have been collection Byzantine and related coinages for thirty years. I have never encountered on of these and would certainly grab it if I did see one. I hope you still have it. As far as value, only the coin gods know. It is certainly for the specialist. I hope this helps. I love puzzles like this.
