Looking at a group of coins tonight, and in there are a few NGC graded ancients, along with some US stuff. I have no knowledge of ancients, so I need help in putting a value to them. Unfortunately, it's a group or nothing, so I have to take it all. If you can give me some idea of value on these, it would be incredibly helpful and appreciated. #1 - https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/4374600-007/NGCAncients/ #2 - https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/4374601-006/NGCAncients/ #3 - https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/4374601-016/NGCAncients/ #4 - https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/4374601-013/NGCAncients/ Even if you can only help with one, it gives me some base to work from.
A good place to get values for ancients is CNG's archives. Here are their listings for #1. Another good place is to check Vcoins to see what retail dealers are asking and here are some similar coins to yours. It may be that the NGC pictures aren't doing the coin any favors but as someone who collects these types, I think this example is a lesser example than any in CNG's archives and there's a much nicer example on Vcoins for $95. Because of that, as a collector of these types, I'd probably try to pay ~$30-$35 max and I personally would skip this example given that better examples can apparently be had for not much more.
@red_spork , thanks. I had difficulty finding most of the coins online, but came to the same conclusion, and you've re-inforced it. $30-35 will be what I go with.
Turns out they split the coins into individual lots. These went for $95 each, which I think is too much. I did pick up 2 1797 Great Britain Cartwheel pennies though!
