stuff on ebay

I buy Morgans, so Im not a very experienced coin buyer. I buy only morgans. Im sure theres fakes on ebay, and sellers with ridiculous auctions. My main area of collecting is old original war letters and war diaries. The stuff I buy, theres no danger of fakes. I suppose you could fake diaries and letters, but nobodys doing it yet. In 1992, when Shaq came into the NBA, I was hooked on Sports cards for a while. But Sports memorabilia is too risky. Lots of fakes in the sports memorabilia. Plus the sports industry is a revolving door of ahtletes coming and going. You buy an athletes signed jersey one day, nobody wants it the next day. In Miami where I live, sure, the dealers will still buy signed Dan Marino stuff, but you wont get anywhere near what you paid for it. At least in coins theres the bid-ask grey sheet prices, so you cant lose. Or so you think. If you dont buy a PCGS slab, the dealer buying your stuff will buy it at two or three grades lower than what you paid. For sports memorabilia, there is a dealer in my town who's known throughout the hobby. Rich Altman: nationally recognized sports autograpp expert. Hes the exclusive retailer for stuff signed by former Celtic Bill Russell. If I can ever get some extra cash in my pocket I might buy from Rich a few Marlins Signed World Series Balls.
