While he was a well-known professional researcher/numismatist of the highest order, he was not a grader. ANACS (some shows); ICG (all shows); SEGS (shows in Chattanooga + ?) have graders at their tables. For this reason and the fact that they are the ANA's "grading service of choice" due to a $$$ contract), a few years ago, NGC began giving opinions (for very short hours) during many shows they attend.
