I agree the Morgan is fake. the date is very puffy/mushy as are most of the obv. letters. overall surface has a grainy look to it. I lean towards genuine on the Barber half.
The Morgan is definitely fake, It measured at 28.5 oz and after looking it is slightly thicker than my other morgans. Im thinking it might at least be silver? lol
Some fakes are made with silver (the very rare date fakes) but most are not. You can get it tested for silver. It's probably not. It could be some kind of pot metal with lead and some other metals. (Nickel-silver, aluminum for color). Interested to know after you get it tested.
When you flip the fake coin (as in striking it with your thumbnail when doing a coin toss), does it make a ringing sound (silver/bronze/brass) or no sound (pot metal)? The same test can be used to separate copper cents (ringing sound) from the zinc ones (no sound).
Very silver sounding. I scraped around the ridges and it's still "silver looking" inside not just plated.
